Should be shared with all marketers and advertisers.

This nugget is about competition around you that is truly remarkable, meaning, it is so well done, it has to be shared, discussed, and considered.  Similar to the nugget about things being Physically in the Way, this nugget exposes the truly “Remarkable”.

This nugget plants seeds that you can grow.  It provides clear “Best Practices” for how to improve your marketing so you become “Remarkable” so the prior distractions (competition) are no longer noticed.

With no sarcasm meant, if it is mission critical that you find new and unique ways to grow, methods you most likely have never heard of, then, this nugget is a must.

(0:00 – 0:15)
There are three types of competition. Every single entrepreneur and business owner are battling these three continuously. They are entropic competition, physical competition, and present competition.

(0:15 – 0:29)
We’re dedicated to discussing entropic competition, which is the reality that life and business naturally erodes life and business. It’s just a fact of life. It’s not called the theory of entropy.

(0:29 – 0:49)
It’s called the law of entropy. And the law of entropy says everything man-made and God-made is built to go from order to disorder. So on Monday, I spent a good deal of time talking about the concept of, hey, you know what? Businesses are built to break down.

(0:49 – 0:58)
If you leave them alone, they don’t go from disorder to order. They go from order to disorder. Our bodies are built to break down.

(0:58 – 1:16)
I gave the example of leaving a car in the desert for 80 years. If you come back, is it a car? If you leave a car in a desert for 80 years and you go back there, is it actually a car? I’m here to say that I don’t think so. I think it’s a chunk of metal and I don’t think it’ll start.

(1:16 – 1:29)
I’m not even sure it would look like a car. So I explained exactly how the law of entropy is constantly at work against us. I provided examples of how the greatest business growth killer might just be self-sabotage.

(1:29 – 1:46)
So the type of competition that most people associate with the word competition, that’s the one of the physical sense. Meaning if you own, say, a shoe company, you probably view your competition as other shoe companies. So yeah, so you get the idea.

(1:46 – 2:15)
If you’re a furniture repair person and you go to a trade show with and about furniture repair, the other people in the boots sharing space next to you, you would probably view them as physical competition. So this is on present competition. Present competition are the competing forces that are present during and after your product’s buying cycle.

(2:15 – 2:40)
It’s been said that sometimes your biggest competitor is the business next door with the larger, fancier outdoor electric sign or the website that’s always outranking you, even though they might not be in your industry. I’m going to dive into how to notice the competition that is present to your clients but not necessarily present to you. So let me say that again.

(2:40 – 3:03)
The competition that is present to your potential clients, your potential customers, but it is definitely not necessarily present to you. So let’s talk about this for a second. I save present competition for last because in order to see present competition, it to a degree sounds goofy, but it takes a little bit of an out-of-body experience.

(3:03 – 3:15)
So let me explain. When an author writes a book, I’m in the middle of my third, the author cannot be the editor. Why is that? The reason is they wrote it.

(3:15 – 3:25)
It is physically impossible for them to see their own errors because they wrote it. They think it’s correct. But the reality is I don’t care how great of a linguist you are.

(3:25 – 3:40)
I don’t care how good of a writer you are. The author always makes grammatical challenges inside their book and they need to be edited by someone that has complete different vision. It takes someone with a different eye to edit an author’s book.

(3:40 – 4:13)
Tiger Woods was once asked why, when he was statistically the best golfer to ever lived, why would he need a coach? If you think about that logically, if you were the statistic best golfer to ever walk the planet, why would you have a coach who is definitely inferior tell you what to do?
