Mastery

$23.00

(0:00 – 0:25)

I don’t know if you have ever ran the numbers or looked at the average income that someone makes that has a high school degree compared to someone that doesn’t. They make a little bit more money than those that didn’t go to high school. If you look at that and compare that to the average income earner if someone went to college, the person going to college in any industry on average makes more money.

(0:25 – 0:42)

But then you take the people that go for further education in a single topic and go for a master’s degree, they make more money. Now this might sound obvious, but let’s just keep going. If they then go for a PhD, they then on average make even more money.

(0:43 – 1:14)

So what’s the point? The point is the deeper that an individual dives into an education on a singular myopic topic, the more that person is going to attract an income. And what that means is when someone does a deep dive into mastering something, not a general knowledge, but a true mastery of a subject, they’re sought after. The world is looking to pay for mastery.

(1:14 – 1:36)

So how does this affect everybody listening to the podcast? So the question is this, when is the last time you’ve mastered anything? I don’t mean got good at or got really good at. You could even go back to, you know, junior high, high school, college athletics. When’s the last time you mastered anything? When you picked up, you know, a guitar, the drum set, whatever.

(1:37 – 1:58)

Did you actually ever master anything? If you’ve mastered something, there’s a great chance you’re probably not even listening to this because you don’t need it. The reality is very few people are willing to pay the price to master something. But I’m going to suggest something that is, I think, very simple.
