Bottom line, in business, in life, especially when someone has a position, i.e. a school teacher, a salesperson, a mom, when someone has a position where somebody is counting on them to perform and do something, every person entering and leaving that position at some point is in one of the five phases of that position. So I’m going to rip through them, and then I’m going to cover some of the techniques that we can use in working with folks in different positions. So number one, what are these five phases? So I want you to, as I go through this, I want you to think back of the last position you had, not the one you’re currently in.

(0:45 – 0:56)

So let’s say you’ve been in a job for a year. I want you to go back to the previous job, right? Whatever you had before that. If you were in school, if you were a new mom, a new dad, a grandpa, something.

(0:57 – 1:08)

But here we go. Phase one is the excitement phase. And the excitement phase is when you start a new position, any kind of position, doesn’t matter, you start a new business, doesn’t matter.

(1:08 – 1:16)

You are stinking excited. Some people call this the honeymoon phase. Everything is new, everything is fresh.

(1:16 – 1:25)

Everything is in the world of exploration. You’re opening up new doors, new windows. You see things so different.

(1:26 – 1:45)

Phase two is called the education phase. And the education phase is when you’re no longer just truly excited to show up, just truly walking on air.
