These events, both speaking, but most importantly, really, really listening. I definitely had the Q-tips out. So this one, and I want to preface this with the fact that eight months ago, we had a new pastor come into our church.
(0:18 – 0:44)
And this young man, I think Pastor Kurt was 37 last year, and his very first sermon went like this. He goes, you know, I’m assuming, and again, you got to remember, this is his very first sermon. He goes, ‘I’m assuming there’s a lot of people that are here today that worked very, very hard five, six days a week, and they very much look forward to the weekend.’
(0:45 – 1:03)
‘They look forward to kind of taking a rest, being with their family, barbecuing, doing things with the kids’. He said something like, ‘You know, how many people in here, you know, really look forward to resting on the weekend?’ You know, a lot of people raise your hand and nodded and this and that. He goes, ‘Well, I’m here to tell you something.’
(1:04 – 1:37)
We have never rested from our work. He said, every person in this room works from their rest. He let that sink in and he went on and he did a 30 minute sermon on how when we rest, when we stop, when we slow our minds down, when we meditate, when we sit there and stare out the window, that’s when God in the universe is able to talk to us in a way we can hear the message.
(1:37 – 2:01)
It doesn’t matter if you’re, you know, Catholic, Christian, Lutheran, Muslim, it doesn’t matter what your religion is. That’s not the point that Pastor Kurt is trying to make. Pastor Kurt is trying to make the universal point, ‘What is the most important thing in how they structure their work week?’ This was a panel where nine of the 10 people owned a global business.
(2:01 – 2:16)
Ron says, well, that’s an awesome question actually. He goes, my answer is very simple. One of the most famous books in world history is called Think and Grow Rich.
(2:16 – 2:38)
The book is not called Think and Grow Rich. The book is called Think, and Grow Rich. The point Ron was trying to make was further explained when he said that he structures his week in a way where he has a thinking chair and on Fridays, he does not allow anybody into the office and it’s only him.
